19May09: - Out now: Francesco Pico Remix of Ground Swell by Matt Rowan & Robbie Lowe on Proton
Next up on Proton Music is "Ground Swell" by Matt Rowan & Robbie Lowe, both from Australia. This production team has released a couple of productions in the past, but Matt Rowan has also recently released an artist album on Baroque called "I Play This". Both are also consistent contributors to radio shows on Proton. Their track is full of well-placed atmospheric synth stabs and groovy bassline elements, and the beat does a great job establishing the funky and addicting groove which will get any dance floor moving.
Another well-known name in the industry provides us with the second remix. It's Francesco Pico from The Netherlands who is soon ready with his second artist album called "Imagining Sounds 2" on Eelke Kleijn's label Outside The Box. He has released music on labels such as Global Underground, AudioTherapy, and Urbantorque. Furthermore, he's the director of the Magnitude label and radio show. The remix he has made for this release is dominated by a smooth bassline which lies beneath a great deal of pad work and other fine melody layers which, together with the groovy beat, create a fine and fluent atmosphere.

04May09: - Coming up IMAGINING SOUNDS2
Francesco Pico's first artist album 'Imagining Sounds' was released on Extrema Music in 2007. It was received extremely well by industry giants like Laurent Garnier and Dave Seaman. The single 'All By Yourself' was even featured in Sasha's Essential Mix and used by Jimmy van M to end his Balance 10.1 album. Roughly two years later, Francesco has finished writing the long-expected follow up. Imagining Sounds 2 is set for release on the 3rd of June 2009 on Outside the Box Music. Early supporters already include Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, and we are without a doubt that many are to follow. The original album was unique at the time, being written as one long track rather than a collection of individual songs. Needless to say, Francesco has approached his second album much in the same way. Imagining Sounds 2 is, quite literally, a journey through dance music, ranging from 808-influenced electronica like 'Heart breaks' to guaranteed club slammers like 'Smashed into the sky'. After a great release on Outside the box music label owner Francesco Pico teams up with Roell Sapphire again for this 10th edition on Magnitude Recordings.
Big bird is a funky, but real peak hour track with a very powerful bass line and strong synths. It has a massive break that will get those feet on the floor and hands in the air. Autorun has that funky bass line, a crazy vocal sound and a lot of effects and edits. Round and out is a break-beat track. It’s all about the melodies messing with your head, enjoy!

Francesco Pico and Roell Sapphire's 'The Thrill Will Be Later' is one of those amazing epic builders that you only come across every once in a while. It's no wonder that it's already being favoured by Hernan Cattaneo as well as Nick Warren. It takes a massive 4 minutes for the bassline to come in (hence the name), but once it drops The Thrill will grab you and not let go until well after the 10 minute mark. Honestly, you cannot miss this one; on the edge of 2008 they bring you one of the best progressive tracks this year has seen! Francesco & Roell have also included an intro and break tool to use parts of the track in a more creative way.
